Electoral systems structure the voting behavior of citizens in a democracy. Holding voters’ preferences constant, different methods of vote aggregation lead to different electoral outcomes.In the first part, the seminar engages with classic texts on the effects of different electoral systems. In the second part, you will have the opportunity—individually or in groups—to become experts on the electoral system of a country of your choice, and we will discuss future challenges facing electoral systems in modern democracies.
